Having to make a decision that may affect my future, i keep thinking about what i want to be in future. Teacher? Accountant? Or...what? Actually i am unsure of all the jobs available in Singapore now, i think i shall pick up a copy of Career Guide in the near future. Hmmm, so, i find it strange that there are all kinds of position available in a company. and how do people know what to do when they turn up on the first day? Surely there will be seniors to guide us along but i still feel that some people never really know what they are supposed to do. People like me. I feel that i am rather redundant in my current job. Perhaps it's because i am only a temporary administrative assistant.
Today, i spent 6hrs at the office doing practically nothing. it's really ironic when i think about how much work i had to do back at giant and 5 bucks per hour is all i get. now i slack so much, with free food from the workshops held and getting to go home at 3 yet i get almost the same pay. i really shouldnt be complaining. but i just feel that it's really strange. how come cashiers are so poor thing, work so much yet get so little pay. just because it doesnt require much thinking? construction workers are poor things too.
anyway, i find that many working adults slack! especially office jobs. for me, my post now is ke you ke wu, yet my colleague told me one day that she couldnt have done without me. i thought she was kidding but she wasnt apparently. so i asked her why dont wanna hire another permanent administrator and she replied that the union is on a tight budget. but then, i feel that it is quite stupid. hiring another person is a long run investment wad. they hire me at 6/hour, not very little also, then i couldnt help my colleague in many stuff, and then when i leave soon, what next? hmmm.
i find that manpower is not fully utilised. i asked jane about her job and she also said that sometimes she will purposely work slower on a task because after she has finished that, she would have nothing to do. i always got nothing to do recently then whenever she gave me a task i was quite glad because i dont have to sit there wondering what to do anymore and feeling bad being paid to sit around. i think she also know that i got nothing to do. i took out a paper and start doodling thinking about what to do when i got home. that day, i asked my papa about his job, then he told me that sometimes he got nothing to do, then he'll go and sleep under the tree. omg, that was quite a piece of news. and then i was reading marian keyes's non-fiction book and she wrote that back when she was an accountant, her colleagues will all fight for the task of going to the bank and then took their own sweet time- claiming that there was a queue at the bank.
i find it very farnie that going to work means this. maybe there are really busy times when many many workers are needed. but when they're not needed, how come they cannot leave the office early? why must pretend to be doing something when there isnt anything much to do. so weird!
